• The dedication will take place on Sunday, October 18

Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will dedicate the Montpelier Idaho Temple on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. MDT and will be rebroadcast at 2 p.m. MDT. It will be broadcast to all congregations within the temple district.

Prior to the dedication, the public was invited to tour the sacred structure from September 10 through 26, 2026, excluding Sundays. The open house followed a media day on September 8.

The Montpelier Idaho Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson at the April 2022 general conference. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in June 2023.

Located at 534 Washington Street in Montpelier, the temple will become the Church’s 225th operating temple worldwide when dedicated. More than 15,000 Church members in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming will be part of the temple district.

Idaho is home to nearly 483,000 Latter-day Saints who meet in more than 1,300 congregations.

Once dedicated, the Montpelier Idaho Temple will be the eighth dedicated temple in the state, joining the Idaho Falls, Boise, Burley, Rexburg, Twin Falls, Meridian and Pocatello Idaho Temples. The Teton River Idaho Temple and Coeur d’Alene Idaho Temple are under construction. The Caldwell Idaho Temple was announced in April 2025.

Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ from meetinghouses or chapels, where members and friends of the Church meet for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a house of the Lord, where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed, enabling families to be united for eternity. In the temple, Church members can seek peace and guidance, learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow men and women.
