An investigation and search for a Grover man last seen on Friday remains ongoing. Family members say Jeremiah Jensen was last heard from on Friday, October 9 with his last known location being east of Grover.

Jensen was reported missing to law enforcement over the weekend, with requests for help in finding him posted to social media by friends and family. “His truck and all of his belongings are at his home in Grover,” wrote Jensen’s aunt in a Facebook post on Sunday evening. “So far as his dad can tell the only thing missing is his phone which has been turned off or dead since 12:30 on Friday. He may be on foot or he may be with a friend. We just don’t know.”  According to his aunt, Jeremiah was last seen in the Jensen Canyon area of Grover.

However, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is currently viewing his disappearance as his choice and stated he is avoiding law enforcement. “The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has an active investigation involving Jeremiah Jensen and are currently searching for his whereabouts,” stated Sheriff Shane Johnson. “Felony charges and an arrest warrant have been filed by the Lincoln County Attorney’s Office. The charges against him include felony counts of Strangulation of a Household Member, Aggravated Assault, Stalking, and a misdemeanor domestic battery.”

Lincoln County Attorney Spencer Allred confirmed to SVI Media that the charges were officially filed by his office on Friday, October 9.

“We want nothing more than to find Jeremiah safe and sound,” stated Sheriff Johnson Tuesday morning during a live interview on SVI Radio. “We want to talk to Jeremiah and give him that opportunity. What’s playing out on social media is, unfortunately, not helpful and in some cases hurtful to the family. He’s innocent until proven guilty. We want nothing more than to find him safe and sound and encourage him, or anybody that may be in contact with him, to reach out.”

During the radio interview, Sheriff Johnson also touched on the decision to not send out search & rescue volunteers to look for Jensen, saying he doesn’t activate search & rescue for someone who is evading law enforcement. “I’m not going to put them in that position,” stated Johnson. “When somebody’s actively avoiding law enforcement and has serious charges, and again he’s innocent until proven guilty, but I have to keep that in mind before I ask them to do that. So we’re handling it from the law enforcement side.”

“Right now, our family is terrified,” stated another extended family member on Facebook Monday evening. “Jeremiah has been missing for days, and we are facing the unimaginable fear of not knowing whether he is alive, warm, or even okay. He left with little to nothing.”

“We are not asking anyone to ignore the law, take sides blindly, or dismiss the seriousness of any situation,” the post continues. “We are asking people to remember his humanity. We are asking for compassion, fairness, and, most importantly, help finding him. Whatever has happened, nothing changes the fact that our family needs to know whether Jeremiah is safe.”
