• The first of three events is Thursday evening

The Cabin Fever Women’s Health Series begins January 16 at 6 p.m. in the Alpine Branch Library located at 243 River Circle. Registered Nurse Skyla Hamilton-Holderman will speak on women’s hormones with focus on perimenopausal and menopausal hormones, and what women can expect to experience as they transition through those changes in their reproductive health.

Tomorrow’s event is the first of three in the library’s educational series on Women’s Health. Hamilton-Holderman will lead a discussion on topics covered in the book “Hormone Havoc: Dispelling the Myths and Misconceptions about Hormones in Women and Men” by Terri DeNeui. A significant amount of time will be given to question and answer opportunities.

Wendy Walton, who serves as a Librarian at the Alpine Branch Library, spoke with SVI Media about the event series last week. Anyone interested in the topic is invited. Entrance is free, and light refreshments will be served. They’ll be discussing, “anything that’s in that book and anything else people want to talk about related to hormones,” Walton said. While most of the focus will be on perimenopause and menopause hormones, the subject of all hormones in all humans will be up for discussion. “We’ll talk about whatever “people are interested in, depending on who shows up.”

The series will continue with events in February and March on the third Thursday of each month. Women’s Health will be the continued theme, with speakers from the local health practitioner community offering education and answering questions.

“Definitely take advantage of this opportunity to meet local health care providers and experts in the field,” said Walton. “There will be lots of question-and-answer opportunities, including anonymous question opportunities. So, if you’re not comfortable asking questions in the group, there will be a box for you to drop your question in beforehand. It’s a great opportunity to find answers about women’s health in a casual, easy and free environment.”

Seating is limited to about 30 individuals, but there is no preregistration, so come early to secure your seat. For additional information, feel free to contact the Library directly at 307-654-7323.
