The Wyoming Historical Society and its federation of statewide chapters seek nominations of individuals and organizations that have done outstanding work in preserving and interpreting Wyoming history in 2024.

With a deadline of April 30, 2025, it is not too early for county chapters, individuals, and Society members to think about submitting nominations.

There are seven main categories, including Publication Awards, Social Media/Podcast/Audio/Video Awards, Fine Arts Award, Youth Awards, Special Awards (such as Outstanding Wyoming Teacher of the Year), Memorial Awards, and Preservation Awards. Nominees might include young historians (grades 3-12), Student Awards (grades 3-Collegiate), activities such as tours, school history projects, they may have written books significant to Wyoming history, someone who has preserved a building, home or old wagon, maybe they created a podcast, a website or have an outstanding social media page.

Beki Speas, chair of the Society’s Awards program, said “We look forward to our annual Wyoming Historical Society awards presentation so that we can spotlight the efforts of those individuals or organizations who went out of their way in 2024 to promote Wyoming’s legacy” She added, “We hope that those who are interested in nominating a standout person, class or group will view our 2025 Awards Manual, available online and submit their nominations. I am hoping that we all take some time and think about those people or organizations in your community that might qualify and deserve the recognition.”

For specific information about each category please review the 2025 Awards Manual found on our website, www.wyshs.org under Programs/Awards or e-mail Beki Speas at beki232@gmail.com to receive an emailed PDF or hard copy. Hard copies of books, writings, and projects need to sent in as hard copies with nomination forms, but Social Media, Podcast nominations, Memorial or Preservation awards can be received via email or to the address provided in the 2025 Awards Manual. Anyone can be nominated for the work they have done to preserve Wyoming’s legacy. Self-nominations are encouraged.
