CASPER (WNE) — Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon is starting to bring his educational dreams to life on a national scale with the introduction of his Education Commission of the States initiative.

Gordon was named chairman of the commission in December 2024.

The heads of the commission create their own initiatives to pursue during their terms.

The governor’s initiative builds upon Wyoming’s Reimagining and Innovating the Delivery of Education Initiative.

The RIDE initiative is currently being implemented in 20 school districts in the state.

The Community Hubs for Addressing Needs for Greater Education — also known as the CHANGE initiative — will help other states and communities begin to create their own versions of the project-based-learning systems.

“Even the best-designed reforms can stall out if they aren’t grounded in the lived experience of educators, families and students,” Gordon said. “And that disconnect, between good ideas and practical implementation, is where progress too often dies on the vine.

“I’m excited to highlight what we’re learning in Wyoming and explore new ways to strengthen local ownership in education.”

The CHANGE initiative will host various meetings across the states to bring communities together to discuss opportunities, challenges and solutions to implementing innovative education solutions, according to a news release.

Gordon will serve as chairman until 2027.
