Wyoming native Ned LeDoux called into the Weekday Wake-up to promote his country concert at the South Shore Barn in Laketown, Utah. The event in the Bear Lake valley will take place Friday, August 22 with advance tickets on sale at SouthShoreBarn.com.
(0:00) Pleased to be able to chat with Ned LeDoux this morning as part of the weekday wake up and Ned (0:06) will be performing at the outdoor concert at the farm on the shore at the South Shore Barn at ages (0:13) 10 and under or free. Tickets $20, gates open at 6. That’s coming up this Friday. Ned, it’s a real (0:19) treat to talk to you.
Thanks for taking a few minutes with us today. Well, thanks for having me. (0:23) Well, Ned, you’re a busy guy.
Kind of tell us about your summer, your tour schedule and some (0:29) of the things you’ve been doing, you’ve been up to as you head over to this direction. Yeah, (0:32) we’ve been really busy, just covering a lot of ground just all over the place. And (0:37) yeah, any days off, you know, out on the road, you’ll try to make it from point A to point B. (0:44) There’s a lot of miles between there.
So we just spend a lot of time playing golf as well. (0:49) Okay, well, that’s, that sounds like a pretty good, pretty good gig. Well, Ned, you, you kind (0:54) of touched on it, you know, and I’ll be honest with you, we’ve been talking about this over the (0:58) last several months as far as promotion and things like that.
People are just dang excited (1:03) to hear not only your songs, the original stuff, but some stuff that you sing that was your dad’s (1:08) that he made popular, kind of talk to us about that legacy and, and doing doing songs that you (1:14) know, people know of your dad’s, but also putting your spin on it and, and also kind of building and (1:20) building your own career as well. Yeah, so I got four of my own albums out. I never thought I’d (1:26) have that many.
But yeah, it’s just been a, you know, a fun adventure, you know, just put my own (1:34) music together. But yeah, during, during the shows, you know, we’re always going to play (1:39) some of dad’s songs, always have always will. And, you know, when I first got into, you know, (1:44) singing, which really wasn’t that long ago.
All the stuff I ever learned was was dad’s songs. (1:52) And but then eventually people asked started asking me if I’d have any my own stuff. And so (1:58) that’s when I kind of got into writing songs and which has been just a little over 10 years ago, (2:03) or not quite 10 years ago.
And but yeah, we’re always going to play some of dad’s songs, too. (2:08) Well, tell us about some of your some of your original stuff and some of the things that (2:13) kind of drives that inspiration about writing your own music, because I think some people have the (2:19) idea of it, but it’s quite a different thing to actually put pen to paper and and go out and (2:23) perform it for people. Yeah, well, my producer, Mac McAnally, really helped me out, you know, (2:30) with the songwriting, because I did have, I had a lot of ideas, just, I didn’t really know how to, (2:36) you know, piece it together and make it a song.
And so I got to sit down with him, you know, (2:41) a number of years ago, and, and he’s produced everything I’ve ever done. And it’s been a huge (2:47) help, you know, with the songwriting. And, and just one little piece of advice he gave me, (2:52) he said, Just write about what you know.
And I said, Okay, that makes it a little bit easier, (2:57) easier, you know, because I’m a terrible pretender. I, you know, I can’t write something (3:01) that I have no relation with. And, and so yeah, I’m just kind of writing my own story.
(3:06) Speaking with Ned, Ned Ledoux, he’s got an outdoor concert on the farm at the South Shore (3:11) Barn coming up. That’s ages 10 and under free tickets, $20 at the door gates open at 6pm. (3:17) And the music starts at 715.
Let’s talk about this show coming up on Friday. If someone has never (3:23) seen you in concert, what, what, what should they expect? (3:28) Oh, we just like to have a lot of fun, you know, just kind of interacting with the crowd. (3:32) As far as the setlist goes, you know, the majority of the songs are, are my songs.
But (3:37) like I said earlier, we’re always going to plug in some of dad’s stuff in there too. (3:43) Well, Ned, it’s been a, it’s been a pleasure to talk to you. Anything else that you want to (3:47) touch on that I haven’t been able to touch on? And again, this concert coming up on Friday at, (3:53) in the Bear Lake area, going to be at the South Shore Barn.
It’s a great venue and (3:58) people are going to really enjoy it. But anything that I haven’t touched on that (4:01) you might want to mention? I think you covered everything. I guess (4:06) if people want to, you know, learn some more, you can go to nedledoux.com. You can find all the (4:11) tour schedules, the shows there and, and the merchandise and that kind of stuff.
But yeah, (4:16) we’re just looking forward to the show. Well, Ned, thank you so much for taking a (4:19) few minutes of your time to talk to us today and have a great show and good luck to you moving forward.
