The Dollar Lake Fire in Sublette County jumped from 1,000 acres to 10,000 acres in a single day as western Wyoming continues to be challenged by multiple fire fighting efforts.
New evacuation ares for the Dollar Lake Fire include a five-mile radius around Dollar Lake and the Green Lakes area which includes the Red Cliff Bible Camp in Cora, Wyoming
The Kendall Valley area in Cora has been placed on Monitor, or “Ready” status.
Closures for the fire include the Green River Lakes Road at the end of State Highway 352.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions continue to be in effect for the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Fires are not permitted unless they are within a metal or concrete fire pit installed and maintained at a developed recreation site. Liquid or gas fuels that can be turned off are allowed with no flammable materials within three feet. Those fires fully enclosed in a metal stove with a chimney and mesh screen spark arrestor are also allowed. All other fires are restricted.

Sierra Front/Nevada Team 5, a Type 3 Wildfire Incident Management Team, took command of the Dollar Lake Fire. The priority for the team is the safety of firefighters and the public. To that end, the team is working with the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the Sublette Sheriff’s Office to communicate and enforce evacuation and closure orders. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to stay well away from the fire area, especially the area between the fire and the Bridger Wilderness boundary.
Current resources are organized into two geographic groups, called divisions, along with a structure protection group. Firefighters are working to ensure all non-firefighting personnel have been evacuated from the fire area as well as scouting for control features to begin anchoring fire containment lines and continuing to control and secure the Green River Lakes Road.
Weather continues to challenge firefighting efforts with extremely dry fuel combined with hot temperatures and windy conditions. Rain is in the forecast on Monday with cooler temperatures early in the week.
