The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has taken a man into custody who is believed to have been the driver in a hit and run incident that occurred in Alpine on Sunday, August 3.

Sheriff Shane Johnson confirmed that Aaron Call, 40, of Afton was arrested at 6:30 p.m. August 26 by the Afton Police Department on a warrant issued for a hit and run. He was booked into the Lincoln County Justice Center in Kemmerer, charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury and failure to report an accident, both misdemeanor crimes.

“There was an arrest affidavit and he was picked up (Tuesday) night,” stated Sheriff Johnson.

Police have been on the lookout for the driver in the incident, which occurred at roughly 10:00 p.m. on County Road 100 in Alpine when Call allegedly hit a pedestrian and left the scene. A search ensued with a description of a 2006-2008 GMC or Chevrolet 2500-3500 diesel pickup truck with a missing driver side mirror. The injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released shortly afterwards.

“The victim of the hit and run was struck by the mirror of the vehicle that was alleged to be driven by Call,” explained Sherriff Johnson. “The victim was transported to the hospital, treated and released. The mirror that had struck the victim was left at the scene and the driver fled the area.  Lincoln County Deputies had followed leads and served search warrants, resulting in Call being charged.”
