The team may not be all that great, but Carl Granderson is doing everything in his power to make New Orleans viable. The former University of Wyoming Cowboy is tied for the league lead in sacks with 3.5 following another week where he was consistently in the opponent’s backfield.
Granderson boasted seven tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in the Saints’ 26-21 loss to San Francisco. For the season, Granderson owns 13 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, two passes defended and four quarterback hits for 0-2 New Orleans.
The Saints travel to Seattle in Week 3.
Below is a list of all the former Wyoming student-athletes and how they did in Week 2.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Allen wasn’t the sharpest, he didn’t need to be, in the Bills’ 30-10 victory at the New York Jets. He was 14-for-25 for 148 yards, while adding 59 yards on six carries via the ground.
For the season, Allen is 47-for-71 for 542 yards and two touchdowns. He’s added 89 yards rushing on 20 carries with a pair of scores for 2-0 Buffalo.
The Bills host Miami on Thursday Night Football.
Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Wingard put together a solid game in the Jaguars’ 31-27 loss at Cincinnati. He recorded two tackles but also had his sixth-career interception with a 39-yard return.
For the season, Wingard has 11 tackles and the one pass defended for 1-1 Jacksonville.
The Jaguars host Houston in Week 3.
Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals
Wilson put forth a good performance in the Bengals’ 31-27 victory over Jacksonville. He registered eight tackles with one pass defended.
For the season, Wilson has 15 tackles and three passes defended for 2-0 Cincinnati.
The Bengals travel to Minnesota in Week 3.
Chad Muma, Indianapolis Colts
Muma was activated for the first time this season in the Colts’ 29-28 win over Denver. He made one tackle for 2-0 Indianapolis.
The Colts travel to Tennessee in Week 3.
Marcus Epps, Philadelphia Eagles
Epps didn’t record a stat for the second consecutive week, as the Eagles downed Kansas City, 20-17.
Philadelphia, which is 2-0, hosts the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.
Frank Crum, Denver Broncos
Crum wasn’t active for the second straight week in the Broncos’ 29-28 loss at Indianapolis.
Denver, which is 1-1, travels to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.
Treyton Welch, New Orleans Saints
Welch has yet to be elevated from the practice squad.
