The Town of Alpine has issued a warning regarding fraudulent emails sent to residents and contractors.

“The Town of Alpine has been notified that residents and contractors are receiving fake invoices claiming to be from the town for building permits,” said the town in a statement. “These fraudulent emails may say: ‘To receive wire transfer instructions, please reply to this email requesting payment details.’ The Town of Alpine does NOT invoice for building permits. Permit fees are paid only when you submit your application – never by invoice or wire transfer.”

The Town of Alpine said those who have received the email should not reply or send money and forward the email to planning@alpinewy.gov so the town can report it to the authorities.
