Three individuals have been submitted to Governor Mark Gordon for consideration as the next Circuit Court Judge in the Third Judicial District-Lincoln County. The Judicial Nominating Commission submitted John D. Bowers, Thomas O. Deering and Dean Stout for Gov. Gordon to consider. Gordon has thirty days from the submission date, which occurred November 18, to announce his appointment for the position of Circuit Court Judge.

The appointed judge will replace Judge Gregory S. Corpening, who is set to retire on January 26. Judge Corpening has held the position as Lincoln County’s Circuit Court Judge since August 9, 2019. The governor’s nominee is scheduled to take the bench January 27, the day after Judge Corpening’s retirement.

“The requirement to serve as a circuit court judge in Wyoming is that they must be a qualified elector of the state and authorized to practice law in Wyoming,” explained Jacob Just, Communications Director for the Wyoming Judicial Branch.

Bowers is currently a practicing attorney in Star Valley, while Deering is a Staff Attorney for the 3rd Judicial District in Sweetwater County with Stout serving as a Public Defender in Uinta County.
