By Duke Dance
February 4, 2026

Mayor Eric Green with the Town of Alpine called into the Weekday Wake-Up on Wednesday, February 4 for his monthly report. Mayor Green recapped the recent Winter Jubilee event, the process to issue a new liquor license and a report on the town working to resolve a sewer issue.

(0:00) Joining me live over the phone this morning, (0:02) Town of Alpine Mayor, Eric Green, (0:05) with his monthly report from the Town of Alpine. (0:07) Mayor Green, good morning, how are you today? (0:10) Doing great, thanks, Duke. (0:12) Hey, absolutely, appreciate your time each month, (0:14) and you know, I think we gotta start (0:16) with the Winter Jubilee.

(0:17) Didn’t have a lot of snow this year, (0:19) but little adjustments here or there, (0:21) and the Winter Jubilee was, again, fantastic. (0:24) Seemed like a great turnout. (0:26) Yeah, it was another great turnout this year (0:29) because we didn’t have as much snow.

(0:31) We moved the Coney Classic down on the ball field (0:36) in that area by the river. (0:40) And from what everyone has said, (0:43) it was another great event. (0:45) Brought in money for the Alpine Trails and Pathways, (0:50) so that was good.

(0:51) And then we had the hot dog roast on Friday, (0:56) and also the fire dancers, so that was great. (1:01) Second year in a row, we had the fire dancers, (1:03) and it was another amazing event. (1:07) So yeah, it all went well.

(1:08) And then on Saturday night, casino night, (1:11) we raised money for local senior high school students (1:17) that will go for sponsorships for that, (1:21) or excuse me, for them to get scholarships (1:24) for them to go on and continue their education (1:28) and hopefully offset some of their expenses. (1:31) So yeah, it was another great year for the Winter Jubilee. (1:35) Well, it takes so much work to pull off an event like that, (1:37) so shout out to Melody and everybody around her (1:40) that made that whole thing click, (1:41) because it does take a lot.

(1:44) Yeah, for sure. (1:45) And we need to shout out Top of the Rockies (1:48) because they do an amazing job supporting that event. (1:53) They go and find gifts from all the people in the area, (1:57) and they give a ton of support, (1:59) whether it’s actual prizes during casino night (2:04) or finding dealers for casino night, (2:07) things of that nature.

(2:08) Top of the Rockies does a great job supporting (2:10) a lot of different events in the town of Alpine, (2:13) but especially Winter Jubilee. (2:14) Alpine Mayor Eric Green on the weekday wake up this morning. (2:17) Well, Mayor, of course, last night, town council meeting, (2:19) anything of note that you’d like to mention (2:21) from last night’s meeting? (2:23) We had, yeah, thank you.

(2:25) We had some people come and make presentations (2:28) for the town of Alpine now has an additional (2:32) retail liquor license available. (2:35) And so we listened to six presentations (2:37) and we’re hoping to get feedback from the people (2:41) in the town of Alpine or the surrounding areas (2:43) on the six different presentations (2:46) and let us know what type of, you know, (2:51) presentation you like the most. (2:53) We had several people that are just looking (2:55) to open a liquor store all the way up to, you know, (2:58) groups that had interest in a wine bar (3:02) to someone opening up a restaurant (3:05) that would have some food trucks available.

(3:08) So this is the opportunity for people in the area (3:11) to give us your opinion on what they would like to see. (3:15) Okay, and if you missed the meeting (3:17) or not sure want to learn more about those presentations, (3:20) you can go see the council meetings archive (3:22) on YouTube last night, right? (3:23) Is that the best way? (3:24) Correct, correct. (3:25) And then you can go to our website (3:27) and you can download the different presentations as well.

(3:31) I don’t know exactly how that works, (3:33) but I think you need to go to the agenda (3:35) and the meetings page. (3:36) And then there’s hyperlinks (3:39) to all the different presentations. (3:40) So if you have any questions on that process, (3:43) feel free to call the town of Alpine (3:45) and get some more information.

(3:47) When does the council hope to make a decision on this? (3:51) So this is all kind of a new process to us, Duke. (3:54) We don’t have anything formalized (3:56) as far as what the process needs to be like in the future (4:00) or whatever we’re hoping to implement something. (4:03) But right now, what we’re looking to do (4:05) is get the feedback from the public (4:08) and then hopefully trim it down (4:09) to two or three of the top applications.

(4:13) And then from there, make the decision. (4:17) We’re under no pressure to make the decision (4:20) other than I think the timing is right (4:23) for if we did make the decision sooner rather than later, (4:27) then they would be open for the summer. (4:30) So I would say that we would hope to have the decision (4:35) within the next couple of town council meetings.

(4:37) Absolutely, okay. (4:38) That’s Alpine Mayor Eric Green this morning (4:40) in the weekday wake up. (4:42) Anything else either from last night’s meeting (4:43) or anything being worked on within the town (4:46) that you’d like to mention today? (4:48) I definitely wanna mention that we were awarded (4:50) the same $25,000 grant that the town of Thane was awarded (4:55) to do their mural.

(4:57) And I have to admit, we’re so jealous of the mural (4:59) that they did in the town of Thane (5:01) that we’re trying to figure out a way to replicate it. (5:04) We don’t have the site of a big tall building like they had. (5:10) So what we have decided is we’re going to put some screening (5:14) up on the fence around the substation, (5:17) the lower valley substation coming into Alpine.

(5:20) So we’re looking for artisans to design whatever it would be. (5:26) It’s kind of in conjunction with the 250th anniversary. (5:30) So I would think something very patriotic (5:34) would go over very well.

(5:37) But I would encourage people to reach out to Lexi Weber (5:41) with the Star Valley Arts Council. (5:43) If you’re interested in maybe putting in an application (5:47) to become one of the artisans that would design (5:50) the screening that goes on the fence. (5:53) Well, you’re right.

(5:54) The Arts Council in the town of Thane and the artist (5:56) that did that completely knocked out of the park. (5:58) So I’m excited to hear that this is happening again (6:00) in Alpine. (6:01) So looking forward to that.

(6:04) Mayor, anything else that you’d like to mention (6:06) while we have you today? (6:07) I would just encourage anyone, there’s a sewer issue (6:12) and maybe I’ve mentioned it before, (6:14) but there was a sewer issue that came up in Alpine Meadows, (6:17) which is one of the subdivisions in Alpine. (6:20) And anyone that lives in that subdivision (6:22) that wasn’t able to attend the meeting last night, (6:24) I would encourage you to go on our YouTube channel (6:26) and listen, watch the meeting, (6:29) because we gave a lot of information (6:31) on how the town is dealing with the sewer issue there. (6:36) And we’re totally working on the project (6:39) or the process to fix it behind the scenes.

(6:43) And just because there’s no action right now (6:47) doesn’t mean we’re not working on it, (6:49) but we’re looking to implement the changes. (6:52) And hopefully you hear something from us very soon (6:56) we’ve got a budget money in this year’s fiscal year budget (7:02) just to pay for the camera that we’ve got to use (7:05) to camera the sewer system. (7:09) So it’s a process, we’re going to take care of it.

(7:11) But if anyone is interested in learning more, (7:15) I encourage you to go and watch that meeting last night (7:18) or reach out to your HOA president (7:21) and get some more information. (7:23) Okay, and again, you can find last night’s meeting (7:25) on the town of Star Valley Ranch, (7:28) or I’m sorry, town of Alpine, (7:30) town of Alpine Facebook page is where you can find that. (7:34) So that’s Alpine Mayor Eric Green this morning.

(7:36) Mayor, appreciate your time as always. (7:37) Thank you very much. (7:38) Absolutely, thanks Stu.

(7:40) It’s all part of the weekday wake up this morning (7:41) on the SBI radio network.
