A contract worker for the Bridger-Teton National Forest was killed in a work related accident Saturday morning, August 30.
Lincoln County Sheriff Shane Johnson said Victor Salvador Alvarado, 30, from Mexico, was working in the La Barge Creek area when he was injured by a falling tree. According to Sheriff Johnson, Alvarado succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Star Valley Health.
Sheriff Johnson confirmed that Alvarado was not a firefighter and was not working on or near the Willow Creek Fire, which has been burning south of Smoot in the Bridger-Teton since August 22.
La Barge Creek, highlighted in yellow, runs southwest of Smiths Fork in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Lincoln County.
