Fire safety ordinances, administrative policies and a new town administrator were all part of the Alpine Town Council matters considered on March 17 meeting.

Fire Safety Ordinances 

The Council held a work session discussion regarding potential updates to ordinances regulating open burning, recreational fires, and fireworks. The discussion focused on clarifying conflicting language in existing ordinances and addressing wildfire risk concerns raised by residents. No formal action was taken

Admin Fees/Safety 

Councilmembers reviewed a draft ordinance establishing administrative fees and cost recovery procedures for town services, including public records requests.

The proposal would allow the town to recover certain costs associated with staff and consultant time.

The council also discussed the town’s safety manual and the possibility of forming a committee to assist with review and implementation. The item was tabled for further evaluation.

Town Administrator

The Council approved Ordinance No. 2026-001 on third reading, formally creating the position of Town Administrator and outlining the duties of the role within Town government. The position will be advertised through several regional outlets

Public Notice Ordinance 

The Council approved first reading of Ordinance No. 2026-002, which will standardize public notice requirements for Town hearings and Planning and Zoning processes.

Sewer  Program

The Council approved Resolution No. 2026-015, establishing a preventative sewer line maintenance program. The program supports the Town’s application for state grant funding related to infrastructure repairs in the Alpine Meadows subdivision.

Seasonal Dig Date 

Due to reduced snowpack and earlier ground thaw conditions this year, the council approved moving the town’s seasonal dig date from April 15 to April 1, 2026, allowing excavation work to begin earlier

Public Comment

Public comment included questions regarding proposed fireworks regulations and discussion about future land use recommendations in the Town’s Master Plan.

Executive Session

The Council entered executive session to discuss matters concerning litigation to which the governing body is a party or may become a party. No action was taken.
