• Annexation brings in lodging tax dollars
The Town of Alpine has officially annexed the Snake River Junction.
The annexation, approved on third and final reading May 6, brings in 58.74 acres to the incorporated community.
“That passed, so now we have a whole new section of town that has been annexed in,” explained Mayor Eric Green in a Wednesday morning May 7, radio interview on the Weekday Wake-Up program, broadcast on the SVI Radio Network.
He continued, “So, everyone knows, that’s everything behind Broulims and out to the Flying Saddle. Everything on that side of the highway is now in the town of Alpine.”
Green further explained the importance of the annexation to the town. “It’s official and we are super excited. That will bring in Lodging tax dollars by bringing in the RV Park and the Flying Saddle,” he said. “Those dollars will be used for more programs, similar to the concert series we do now.
We’re excited about that it and it will be a huge benefit to the town.”
The mayor noted the area is already connected to the infrastructure services provided by the town.
Future plans for the area include a new lodge and 27 homes.
A Lincoln County Commission approved malt beverage license for the Alpine Valley RV Resort, in the same area, was noted as part of the annexation procedures at an earlier Alpine Town Council meeting.
