The Star Valley Arts Council’s (SVAC) second annual Alpine Art Festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 15-16 on the lawns of The Bank of Jackson Hole in Alpine. Festivities will open at 10 a.m. and run through 6 p.m. both days.
“We had an awesome first year in 2024 with the Alpine Arts Festival, and this year we are stepping it up,” said Lxi Weber, Executive Director of the SVAC. “There are more vendors, more live music, and more community awareness. It’s exciting to see how much the festival has grown in just one year! We’re building something really special here for the community.”
21 vendors are engaged for the festival, offering a variety of hand-made art including paintings, photography, ceramics, mosaics, stained glass, wood furniture, wood carvings, antler designs, jewelry and more. Baldy Dread and The We Ourselves Band are scheduled to provide live music from noon to 3 p.m. each day with Baldy Dread playing on Friday, and The We Ourselves Band playing on Saturday. Scoopz ice cream truck is also scheduled to visit the festival for a few hours each day, though exact times were unavailable at press time.
“The SVAC booth is going to have our first ever Shared Gallery Project,” explained Kylee Duggar, who currently serves as an intern with SVAC, and is charged with leading the festival event. “We asked local artists to paint an eight by eight inch canvas to display and sell from our booth during the festival. We had 18 artists participate. Together, they completed 30 canvases. All canvases will be available to buy in the Arts Council’s booth, with 80 percent of the sale of each piece going directly to the artist. Our local artists have amazed us with their talent, and we can’t wait to share their creations with you.”
The SVAC is pleased to support artists and art exposure through this festival. “The Alpine Art Festival is such a special event because it brings together artists of every discipline,” said Dugger. “We love supporting our local artists and sharing their incredible work with our community. Seeing all their work on display in one place is so inspiring, and I love seeing their dedication and witnessing how our festival visitors recognize and enjoy their talent just as we do. If you are on the fence about coming, come! There is nothing more fun than experiencing the creativity of our local artists!”
