The Town of Alpine held a master plan open house on Monday, November 3 in which consultants and town officials met with the public and went over a current Alpine Master Plan and surveyed those in attendance.

According to Mayor Eric Green, the night was deemed a good one.

“Coming away from that meeting, I felt it was a huge success,” he said. “I’m very appreciative of how many people showed up from the community.”

Green noted that there were more than 75 people in attendance.

“The consultants said the attendance exceeded their expectations so we’re very happy with that,” he said.

Some of the items that are part of the master plan include current and existing conditions in the town, potential future projects and the future of land use.

“The land use question is one of the most important things,” he added. “The people who live in the county on land that could be considered for annexation in the future had questions.”

Green stated that questions on the survey included options of what items residents would like to see in terms if their preference and if they had suggestions for different options they would like to see the town tackle in the future. He emphasized the commitment of the town council to keeping a master plan as an item of importance.

“This master plan should last 20 years, but the town council has said they want to set aside funds every year so we can do an update every five years,” he said. “Hopefully we are able to keep on top of any changes.”

Those who may have missed the open house and have ideas for Alpine can still contribute.

“People can still participate,” Green concluded. “We will be providing more opportunities  for people to interact with the consultants and that’s going to be a new survey hopefully by the end of this week.”
