• Town seeking time for a new master plan.
The Alpine Town Council rejected a Planning and Zoning proposal at a special town council meeting in October.
The proposal included a moratorium on commercial development and a halt to annexations for Lincoln County’s fastest growing community.
Under the emergency status the proposal could have passed on one reading.
The meeting, carried on a community YouTube stream, the Planning and Zoning leadership talked about the need to address an updated master plan.
Comments ranged from the need for time to develop a new plan that included a school for the community, while others advised a moratorium, even for six months, would hinder business and development.
Voting in opposition of the moratorium, council members Andrea Burchard, Frank Dickerson and Jeremy Larson.
Voting in favor of the moratorium, council member Emily Castillo and Mayor Erick Green.
