Alpine working on the school, master plan launched

• Water meter project starts, new fiscal budget underway and plans for Mountain Days

The details of a lease for land that will be home for the Alpine Charter School is in the process.

In a monthly radio interview with the SVI Weekday Wake Up program, Mayor Eric Green advised, “We are trying to work out the land for a lease.”

He referenced land for the project behind the community’s fire station.

“We’re working through some lease terms now,” he added. “We hope to have something soon that would come before the council.”

Temporary school buildings located in Jackson could be used for the project that would start in the fall of 2026.

In other news related to the Town of Alpine and noted in town summary report:

• The Alpine Master Plan Website has been launched. The mayor reported the project website is now live at www.alpine-master-plan.com.

The town encourages residents to visit the site for updates. Questions can be directed to Sarah at Town Hall.

• Alpine Clerk/Treasurer Monica Chenault announced that starting in June, department reports will follow a new schedule. Reports from department heads will be presented at the first monthly meeting.

All other reports will be at the second meeting, with the goal is to improve consistency and clarity in reporting.

• Councilmember Andrea Burchard reported on Alpine Mountain Days, scheduled for June 20–22, which will feature live music, food vendors, demonstrations by the Raptor Center and Horse Warriors, and Native American dancers.

• Scholarship Awards from the Winter Jubilee and Casino Night supported $3,500 in contributions of three students.

AMI Water Meter Project Begins — Jorgensen Engineering announced the installation of new AMI water meters will begin next week.

* Under Alpine Planning and Zoning, commission member Rachael Stewart presented five application updates. The commission reported a residential application was tabled pending documentation, and a commercial permit for Alpine Valley RV Resort was approved.

• As part of Outdoor Recreation and Trails PlanningCouncilmember Jeremy Larsen shared that Lincoln County Economic Development Director  Bob King is leading efforts with a focus on outdoor recreation.

King is working with trail groups and federal agencies to develop a valley-wide trail system.

• As part of the utility report,  Larson advised that Terrace Drive will be prioritized for repairs in coordination with Silver Star. Sunset Drive requires less work.

Lower Valley Energy has buried power lines along Barton Terrace. Remaining service lines to homes are the responsibility of property owners.

Also, under utilities, the  Council reviewed performance concerns at the wastewater pre-treatment plant.

Jorgensen Engineering provided a detailed report outlining the issues and timeline of events. Further actions will be considered.

• Under Facility Maintenance, the town council reviewed proposals for painting and staining the Alpine Civic Center and Town Hall.

Craig Leseberg was authorized to select a contractor to stain the pillars, posts, and purlins at the civic center, as well as the exterior of Town Hall, with the total project cost not to exceed $25,000.

• Councilmember Larsen reported the Alpine Travel and Tourism Board approved funding for several upcoming events.

Ordinances and Resolutions

• Ordinance No. 2025-008 (Speed Limit Ordinance) passed on its second reading.

Public comments are welcomed before the third reading on June 3.

• Ordinance No. 2025-009 (Amended FY25 Budget) and Ordinance No. 2025-010 (FY26 Budget) both passed on first reading.

• Resolution No. 2025-018 was passed, appointing Gina Corson as Acting Planning and Zoning Administrator for a 90-day probationary period.
