Alpine anticipates having a charter school land lease ready for review at the June 17 town council meeting.
The proposed land is located in an area behind the community’s fire station.
The update on the land came as part of the regular monthly updates of the June 3 Town Council meeting.
The land lease was part of an Alpine Town Council meeting that included updates on infrastructure, inspection protocols, housing discussions, and various ordinances.
“We plan to have the negotiated lease on the agenda for the meeting on [June 17],” said Alpine Mayor Eric Green during a live interview on SVI Radio. “You’ll probably be seeing some temporary buildings coming down the canyon later this month. They’re going to have to apply for a special use permit to put the buildings on that land and store the buildings for a period of time.” According to Mayor Green, American Preparatory Academy is hoping to open for their first school year in Alpine in the fall of 2026.

• Public Works Director Craig Leseberg told the council the AMI radio read water meter system was at 160 out of 440 systems installed at the time of the June 3 meeting. The entire project will be done by July 1, ahead of the Aug. 1 deadline.

• The council heard a report on Electrical Inspections, with a member of the State Fire Marshal’s Office attending.
Building Official Dee Rammell and State Electrical Inspector Dan Tobin joined the Council to discuss the current inspection process.
Concerns were raised about homes bypassing the inspection process, and the council reviewed a recommendation to require “guaranteed inspections” for all electrical work in Alpine.
Other Wyoming towns such as Lander have adopted similar measures. The proposal would strengthen safety and compliance. No action was taken, and the issue will return for further review.
• Mayor Eric Green shared an early-stage proposal to assist with housing for a Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy.
The Town is evaluating a 1.5-acre parcel in the Foxtail Subdivision for possible modular duplex units. The Council expressed support for continuing discussions with the Sheriff’s Office and potential partners such as the school district and WYDOT.
• The Council authorized Mayor Green to negotiate a lease agreement with Melvin Brewing Company for signage placement on Town-owned property.
The signage is intended to improve wayfinding to the brewery and reduce commercial vehicle traffic in residential neighborhoods.
All signs would be installed and maintained by Melvin Brewing at their expense, with final designs subject to Council and Planning & Zoning review.
