• Nearly $18,500 received in sales and raffle purchases

The Star Valley Arts Council’s third annual Art Auction Fundraiser, offered as part of the Hometown Heroes celebration in Afton on July 10, brought over $18,500 in sales and raffle purchases to the council and contributing artists. Sixteen pieces by local artists sold and the raffle winner took home a uniquely carved beef skull.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to support this year’s Art Auction Fundraiser,” said Lxi Weber, who serves as Executive Director of the arts council.  “While this year’s event looked a little different because of the venue change, we’re very pleased with the outcome.”

For the fundraiser, artists donate a portion of their sale income to the arts council. In exchange, the council gives artists several sales and promotional opportunities throughout the year with the fundraiser auction and other events sponsored by the arts council.

During the auction, “we had the opportunity to meet new collectors and supporters who we hope will become long-term friends of the Star Valley Arts Council,” said Weber. “Thank you to everyone who purchased artwork, bought raffle tickets, donated, volunteered, and helped make the event a success. Your support allows us to continue bringing quality arts programming to Star Valley.”

Next year’s fundraiser is expected to return to the Alpine area.
