A performance from the 2023 Stars in the Valley Christmas Concert.

• Performers and artists of all ages are invited to participate.

The Star Valley Arts Council is calling for performing artists who hope to participate in the annual Christmas Concert, Stars in the Valley.  Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, October 2-3 from 7-9 in room B101 at the Thayne Community Center. Interested parties will be able to visit with the event committee first come, first served.

This year’s concert is scheduled for Friday, December 6 in the Star Valley High School auditorium at 7:30 p.m.  A dress rehearsal will also take place Thursday, December 5 beginning at 7 p.m.

“These auditions are more like an invitation,” said Janet Erickson, who serves as Chairman of the Board with the Arts Council, and event lead for the concert, in an interview with SVI Media.  “We want to know who is interested in being part of this Christmas tradition.”

Stars in the Valley was first introduced through the Arts Council in 2019 and has been nearly an annual tradition. The concert has featured all types of local performing and visual artists, including music and dance of all kinds, drawing, photography and theatrical portrayals.

“We don’t always know who is here or who is interested in being part of the concert,” said Erickson. “Please come and introduce yourselves and show us what you have to share. We welcome performers of all ages and abilities who are wanting to participate.”

At the auditions, candidates will receive a packet of information detailing the schedule of concert preparation and deadlines for preparing the concert, to ensure that there is order and efficiency in the planning process.

“If you have any wish to participate in this Christmas celebration of local talent, please come out and show us what you can do,” said Erickson. “We look forward to giving everyone an opportunity on the stage who has an interest and who is willing to prepare a quality presentation.”
