The Bridger-Teton National Forest, Jackson and Blackrock Ranger Districts are seeking comments on the proposed Shadow Mountain Habitat Enhancement project. This fuels treatment project would include a combination of prescribed fire and mechanical treatments at Shadow Mountain to improve wildlife habitat, increase timber stand resilience to insect and disease, and reduce wildfire risk in the Wildland Urban Interface. The proposed action area is located 20 miles northeast of Jackson, WY and would cover up to 10,147 acres.

To view the scoping letter and find out more or to provide a comment please visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/btnf/?project=67544. We anticipate that this project will be analyzed under a categorical exclusion, and this will be the only opportunity to comment. Comments must be submitted or postmarked during the 30-day period beginning on April 14 and ending on May 13, 2025.

There will be an in-person public open house about the project at the Jackson Ranger District, 340 N Cache St in Jackson on April 28, 2025 from 5:30-7:30 pm.
