• UW will host Fresno State on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The University of Wyoming Volleyball team is the latest to skip their match against conference foe, San Jose State, who has now had matches forfeited from Boise State and Southern Utah. The decisions appear to be stemming from San Jose player, Blaire Fleming, who formerly went by Brayden Fleming.
While a news release from UW did not mention the player or specific issues, the two previous schools stated that players on their respective teams made the determination due to concerns about “player safety.”
“After a lengthy discussion, the University of Wyoming will not play its scheduled conference match against San José State University in the UniWyo Sports Complex on Saturday, Oct. 5,” the statement from UW noted. “Per Mountain West Conference policy, the Conference will record the match as a forfeit and a loss for Wyoming. The Cowgirls will host Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex.”
Boise State made the same decision last week and Southern Utah did so on September 14. Idaho Governor Brad Little expressed his support for the decision on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Cowgirls are currently (9-4)(1-1) in the Mountain West Conference.
