UPDATE: WYDOT reported the road open at roughly 5:14 pm. WYDOT Teton County reports that the crash was a fatal incident, but no further details have yet been given.

ORIGINAL: The Wyoming Department of Transportation have closed Highway 89 through the Snake River Canyon between Alpine and Hoback Jct. due to a crash. The closure went in effect at 4:27 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14.  WYDOT reports that the estimated opening time is unknown.

At roughly 4:00 p.m. Star Valley EMS and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a head-on collision between a pickup truck and passenger car a few miles east of Alpine.
