Dive team recovers two bodies after side-by-side crashes though icy Wyoming reservoir

GLENDO, Wyo. — Two bodies were recovered after they and their side-by-side crashed through the ice on top of a Wyoming reservoir.
According to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted the Platte County Sheriff’s Office after two people and their UTV fell through the ice at Glendo Reservoir on Saturday.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team arrived at the scene around 5 p.m., according to a news release. They determined that “adverse weather and unsafe ice made it too dangerous to conduct a dive operation that evening.”
On Sunday morning, divers were able to safely enter the water and successfully locate both people and their side-by-side.
Glendo State Park is located in the southeastern part of Wyoming, and the reservoir holds approximately 12,000 surface acres of water.
“We urge the public to exercise extreme caution when traveling on frozen bodies of water, as ice conditions can be unpredictable and dangerous,” the release says. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of those who lost their lives during this difficult time.”
