Lincoln County, WY – As we reach the middle of Summer, we again see wildfires dotting the western states, and filling the air with smoke. In the past two weeks, there have been at least two fires in Lincoln County that had the potential to threaten homes.

Fortunately, quick action from firefighters and other first responder agencies was able to prevent a worse situation. That may
not always be the case, however.

Lincoln County Emergency Management is urging residents to ensure they are signed up for emergency notifications through CodeRED. CodeRED is a mass notification platform that allows emergency officials to quickly get the word out to residents in the event of fire, flood, evacuations, Amber Alerts, and other types of emergencies. This system provides messaging through phone calls, text messages, email, and social media, all simultaneously.

The main limitation is that you need to be signed up for it to receive those messages.

• How to sign up

Residents within Lincoln County can sign up for free on our website at www.lincolncountywy.gov by clicking on the “Emergency Notifications” quick link on the home page. This will take you to the sign-up form. Residents can sign up with or without creating a CodeRED account.

You can also text LCWY to 99411 to receive a text message with the sign-up link straight to your phone.

Your information will NOT be used for any purpose other than emergency notifications. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
