A total of 17 student-athletes who graduated from Star Valley High School’s Class of 2025 signed to compete in their chosen sport as they head their separate ways. The last one to put pen to paper was Veil Foreman who won her second state title as the Lady Braves wrestling team capped a three-peat this past season.

Foreman will be resettling to La Grande, Oregon where she will be competing with the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers starting this next school year. Foreman recalled her growth in the sport which began in elementary school and progressed through the sanctioning of girls wresting in Wyoming.

“I’ve been wrestling since third grade and was always used to wrestling the boys,” she said. “When we went to some of the bigger tournaments I realized there were girls divisions and it was a nice transition to be able to have that opportunity so I’m grateful for that. I was just super grateful to be in the sport and come here and happy to be there for it.”

Foreman mowed through the Wyoming competition as she never lost to an in-state opponent. Her only loss came out of state in her freshman campaign. As one of the pioneers of girls high school wrestling in the area, she spoke of the gratification of seeing other girls come to appreciate wrestling.

“I help with the Star Valley Wresting Club and the little tournament we do so its exciting to see these different age groups growing in it and they get to fall in love with it.”

Veil credits her mom, Kendell, with supporting her in her wrestling journey and providing her opportunities.

“We were constantly going to tournaments and it gave me a head start,” she answered. “I was determined to do good. My whole life my mom has been so supportive. Even this year I went to the world team trials in Spokane and she helps fund that for me and coaches me and practices with me. It’s how I got to where I am today.”

Foreman joined the EOU team after taking a visit to the campus.

“I didn’t know about the school until about a month and a half ago,” she continued. “The distance is closer.  I liked when I went to visit and their coach is amazing their team environment and the way they practice and the culture fit for me and it’s a beautiful area. They are really motivated and want to win and they were very welcoming and kind. I practiced with them for a day and you can tell they really enjoyed wrestling and had a passion for it like me.”

She has lofty goals for her first year in college.

“I’ll be transitioning to freestyle so I want to be better than that,” she added. “I want to be an NAIA All-American and then I want to go back to the team trials and qualify in the top eight.” Veil will be majoring in Psychology.

As she departs a career that saw a lot of changes, it’s clear she enjoyed the ride and left some good advice for the next generation of Lady Braves.

“I really enjoyed getting to watch the girls fall in love with wrestling like I did,” she concluded. “It was great to watch them grow so much and all the team bonding moments and bus rides and cutting weight and I’ll remember those moments.  I would just say enjoy what you’re doing and find love in every step of the way and be passionate with it and go all in and don’t hold back.”
