GREEN RIVER — The body of a man who was reported missing on Sunday, April 12, was discovered Tuesday afternoon.

Law enforcement officials confirmed on Wednesday the body of Alex James Booth, 20, of Jamestown, was located in the Green River near the Green River Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center after a passerby discovered the body and reported it at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Booth was first determined to be missing on Sunday. The Green River Police Department received a report of a possible missing person when Booth did not return home as expected.

After unsuccessful efforts on Sunday and Monday to locate Booth — including searching the areas tied to his last known whereabouts — GRPD entered his name into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person and began an investigation. This included contacting known associates and following up on leads.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Booth’s death remains active.

Officials expressed their gratitude to their law enforcement partners and the members of the public who helped share information during the effort to locate Booth.

Out of respect for his family, no additional details will be released at this time. Officials are asking the public to “keep Alex’s loved ones in your thoughts and respect their privacy.”
