• Together We Can Bring Hope and Relief to Families Affected by Hurricanes

In Afton, Tara Wheeler is rallying the community for a vital cause. In the wake of recent hurricanes that have devastated the southeast, many families are struggling to regain a sense of normalcy. As a dedicated local advocate, Tara has taken the initiative to organize a donation drive for hygiene kits to support those in need.

After watching a Facebook video about the Helping Hands organization providing relief this past Tuesday, Tara was inspired by a quote from Lily Tomlin: “I said, ‘Somebody should do something about that.’ Then I realized I am somebody.” She reflected, “It’s not realistic for me or anyone in Wyoming to drive to North Carolina to help, but we are all capable of doing something, no matter how small.”

Tara invites everyone to join her in this important mission. The goal is clear yet impactful: assemble hygiene kits or make monetary donations to assist those affected. A plane will be departing on Saturday, thanks to a resident from Smoot. If you can donate kits by Friday, October 11th, they will be sent directly to Tiffany Clement-Hardy, a Star Valley native now living in Georgia, for distribution to families in need. If you miss that deadline, rest assured that all monetary donations will go directly to Tiffany to purchase essential items.

Donations can be dropped off at Tara’s home, located at 330 Adams St., or you can contribute financially via Venmo at @taradakteffl. Every dollar will go toward essential hygiene products.

The deadline for physical donations is tomorrow, so don’t hesitate! Join Tara in her mission to spread kindness and support those in need. Together, we can showcase the strength and compassion of our community, helping our neighbors rebuild their lives, one hygiene kit at a time.
