Fire restrictions will go into effect at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 throughout all of Lincoln County. The Lincoln County Commissioners, at the recommendation of the Lincoln County Fire Warden, signed a resolution stating that Stage One Restrictions will be in place until further notice.

Stage One restrictions include any open fire or discharge of any class of fireworks on all state and private land within the county.

Exemptions to the restrictions include:

According to the resolution, violation of the restrictions may result in a fine not to exceed $100 or imprisonment not to exceed thirty days or both.

The Bridger-Teton National Forest put in similar restrictions on all forest service land on August 12. Those restrictions included any fire, including charcoal and briquettes, except in a permanent metal or concrete fire pit or in a fully enclosed metal stove with a chimney. All fireworks and explosives, smoking and welding are also prohibited on forest service land.

The fire danger rating for the Teton Interagency Dispatch area remains at “very high,” meaning a fire may start easily, spread rapidly and burn intensely.
