Lincoln County Primary Election Results

The official counting of ballots for Lincoln County went well into the night after the 2026 Primary Election with final results not being released until nearly 11 p.m.

A total of 5,917 ballots were recorded for the county as voters headed to the polls for contested local, state and federal races.

For comparison, a total of 4,698 total votes were cast in the 2024 Primary Election. That number spiked to 10,940 for the 2024 General Election. 

The 2022 Primary Election drew a total of 6,755 votes in Lincoln County. The General Election of that year had a total of 7,626. 

Results will also be part of the Weekday Wake-up on Swift 98 and The Spur throughout Lincoln County from 7-9 a.m. on Wednesday.

All votes must be certified by the State Canvassing Board after the election.

Local Races – 

In the hotly contested race for two Lincoln County Commissioner spots the voting was tight with Jake Long compiling the highest total of 2,720. Jesica Lozier was next with 1,686 followed closely by Joe Heward who finished with 1,678. Kay Lynn Nield finished with 1,549 while incumbent Kent Connelly had 931. John Long rounded out the totals with 729. 

In the race for County Attorney, incumbent Spencer L. Allred took 3,090 votes while Carmen L. Patterson finished with 1,974. 

For Lincoln County Sheriff, incumbent M. Shane Johnson carried 4,057 votes compared to 1,132 for Val Clement. 

Joey K. Antilla compiled 2,783 votes for County Treasurer with Dawn Marquardt finishing with 1,978. 

Jason Rosas won the race for County Assessor with 3,128 votes compared to 1,584 for Emmett Mavy. 

State and Federal Races – 

Several major races were called earlier in the evening including races for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Governor, Secretary of State, Superintendent of Public Instruction and Treasurer. 

In the GOP Primary for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Cynthia Lummis, current Congresswoman Harriet Hageman carried more than 62% of the vote to move to the General Election where she will meet Democrat James Byrd. 

In the race for Hageman’s U.S. House seat, current Secretary of State, Chuck Gray, fended off Steve Friess with nearly 25% of the vote while the latter finished with just over 20%. Kevin Christensen also netted 18 percent of the vote with Jillian Balow taking just over 10%. Lisa Kinney advanced on the Democratic ticket. 

In the race for Wyoming Governor to replace the departing Mark Gordon, Eric Barlow took more than 45% of the state votes with Megan Degenfelder collecting just over 29% and Brent Bien finishing with nearly 24%. 

In the race for Secretary of State, Robert Short picked up the win for the open spot with nearly 47% of the total while Rachel Williams was next with almost 33%. 

Steve Harshman moved on in the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction with just over 58% of the total. Tom Kelly was next with almost 31%. Harshman will meet Ana Cordova who claimed nearly 63% of the Democratic ticket.

In the election for State Treasurer, incumbent Curt Meier claimed 69% of the vote over Scott Smith who finished with 31%. 

All of these candidates will move on to the General Election in November.
