Reggae in the Rockies returns to Star Valley September 5-6 on the Alpine 4-H Ranch at 1900 U.S. 26 directly north of Alpine. Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday, with the island sounds ringing out at 6:30. Saturday’s gates open at 2:30 p.m. and the party starts at 3.
According to reggaeintherockies.com, the festival is “back with bigger and better vibes than ever! Enjoy the music, the mountains, the rivers, the national parks and everything the Rockies have to offer.”
Friday’s artist lineup includes reggae favorites Tribal Seeds, The Movement, KBong, and Johnny Cosmic. Saturday offers Fortunate Youth, Kyle Smith, Ethan Tucker, Sunsmith, Heaven Zest and Cariies. General Admission tickets and VIP tickets are available for September 5, with limited capacity tickets offered for the After Party on September 6. Festival guests can enjoy vendors as well as music.
“Reggae in the Rockies is about more than just music; it’s about creating a community vibe,” says Dave Walters, Alpine resident and founder of the festival. “We just wanted to bring the music vibe to the valley, and kind of get everybody more into having live music in the valley, whether it’s reggae or another genre, it doesn’t matter.”
Dave and his wife, Becka, are drawn to “small, or more intimate shows,” and truly enjoy providing this live music experience to the community. “We just really appreciate the community for helping support this. We’ve been getting tons of positive feedback, so it’s been awesome.”
Dave and Becka welcome fans of reggae and members of the community to relish this opportunity for celebrating live music and the unique atmosphere of an outdoor music festival. “We’re looking forward to an amazing event and can’t wait to see everyone there,” Dave adds.
