Registration has opened for Wyoming Classical Academy, the Charter School coming to Alpine in the fall of 2026. The school is a tuition free academy for children in grades K-8.
The Wyoming Charter School Authorizing Board officially approved the Town of Alpine for a charter school on October 25, 2024. Since that time, the Alpine Education Foundation has worked with the Town of Alpine through the permitting process to find a suitable location for the future school. The foundation has entered into an agreement to lease land from the town, located directly behind the Alpine Fire Station.
“We are very excited. We have made a lot of headway in the last year. We are excited to bring it to fruition,” said Meredith Leonard, Chair of the Alpine Education Foundation. “We have leased the land with the Town of Alpine and we have also purchased modular buildings that are already in Alpine but not on site.”
The school will begin with temporary modular buildings, but will eventually have a permanent building in place.
“These were school buildings for kids up till now,” explained Alpine Mayor Eric Green in regards to the temporary modular buildings. “When they are installed they’ll be inspected by our local building officials. The state has to inspect them. We have no concerns that children’s safety will be at risk by attending school in these buildings.”
An official groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the school’s site behind the fire station. Anyone interested in learning more about Wyoming Classical Academy and the registration process can visit WyoClassical.org.
