Women throughout Star Valley are invited to Santa’s Gift Swap this evening, December 3 from 6-8 p.m. in the upper level of the Star Valley Ranch Town Hall at 171 Vista Drive in Star Valley Ranch.

Guests are invited to bring new or gently used donations, such as toys, games, decorations, clothing, jewelry and household items, and then enjoy light refreshments while they shop through the donations to take home what interests them.

“This is an entirely free swap and everyone is welcome,” organizer Jill Hall told SVI Media. “I think we will have a lot of stuff. If there are things that you no longer need, bring them. We want them to be nice things that can be regifted, and then you can take home whatever you want.”

As a women’s interfaith community event for families throughout Star Valley, the swap also serves as a fundraiser for the Thayne Food Bank. Twelve gift baskets containing items donated by local businesses and private individuals are set to be offered by silent auction. The auction baskets include items such as hiking gear, homemade bread, gingerbread art and photography pieces.  The silent auction opens at 6 p.m. and will close at 7:30. Organizers are also accepting cash donations for the Food Bank.

Auction items are donated by local businesses and private individuals. Hiking basket, homemade bread basket, gingerbread basket, art and photography pieces, and accepting cash donations for Thayne Food Bank.

“In our small communities, we need to look out for each other,” said Hall. “We all need to lift and build each other because we’re in tough times right now.”

Any unclaimed donations will be taken to Lincoln Self Reliance or Deseret Industries.
