A single vehicle accident involving a semi and trailer occurred in the Snake River Canyon on Monday, November 18.
The Alpine Fire Department said they were dispatched to mile marker 123, roughly five miles east of Alpine, on US Highway 89 at approximately 12:30 p.m. AFD said the semi went through the guardrail and came to rest 100 feet down. The driver was able to walk up to the roadside and was assessed and transported by Star Valley Health.
The Alpine Fire Department said the semi was stable with little fuel spillage. They were able to use a chain saw to cut a path for the two service to work. Traffic delays were experienced in the canyon through the afternoon as crews worked to move the rig out.
