Those who are planning to hand out candy this Halloween can add their homes on a trick-or-treat map to show they have treats this year.

Organizer Ivy Robinson’s favorite holiday is Halloween and she brought back the map after seeing the community response to last year’s efforts. Robinson said Nordic Ranch saw so many trick-or-treaters that some residents had to buy more candy.

Robinson was able to keep the original map and renew its subscription this year, allowing new households to join and give families more places to visit on Halloween night.

Access to the map is done by either scanning a QR code or entering in a direct link. The map has different icons to represent events and participating homes. Pumpkins are used for the homes to visit for trick-or-treating and coffin icons are used for Halloween events. Families can also check off houses as they visit, so they can keep track of where they have been.

Robinson hopes the map encourages families to enjoy traditional house-to-house trick-or-treating tradition.

“After COVID-19 hit, trunk or treats became the big thing, and while I still think trunk or treats are great, it’s time to show our kids how WE got our candy,” Robinson said.

She said with the communities so spread out in Star Valley, it makes it more difficult to know where to go to keep up traditional outings on Halloween in certain areas. With the map, it makes it easier for families to see other places to go that may not be in as compact of neighborhoods.

Some residents who had gone more than 10 years without trick-or-treaters reported seeing more than 30 children stop by last year, Robinson said.

“I love this community and how they welcomed me with open arms when I moved here!” she said. “I love helping the community, and I love seeing kids be kids again!”

Residents who would like to add their homes can scan the QR code to access the map. You can also go directly to the site: https://map.proxi.co/r/QStMC4MFEHG42XYilRCU. Robinson said she hopes the effort will help families find places to trick-or-treat and bring back the excitement of Halloween night.
