• Help the habitat restoration projects on the Salt River and its tributaries on April 19, 2025
Tanner Belknap of Star Valley Trout Unlimited recently stepped into the SVI Radio studio to discuss two exciting upcoming fundraisers aimed at supporting the habitat restoration projects on the Salt River and its tributaries.
The Fly Fishing Film Tour will take place at the Alpine Civic Center on April 19. This much-anticipated evening promises a fantastic lineup of films selected specifically for the Star Valley audience. Belknap emphasized the thrill of the event, noting that “we reviewed all the films, and these ones looked like they would be a lot more exciting for the folks in Star Valley and there is actually one local film about the snake river headwaters up by Jackson.”
The event features a massive raffle with over $6,500 in prizes, including an impressive $1,700 fly rod setup and a variety of fishing-related gear. Attendees can also look forward to a silent auction showcasing local artwork and unique items, including a float trip.
“There are 19 prizes, and only 180 people can fit in the building,” Belknap explained, urging the community to purchase tickets in advance. While tickets will be available at the door, seating is limited. Doors open at 5 PM, and tickets can be bought through the Alpine Civic Center’s website.
This event is sponsored by grant funding from the Town of Alpine Travel and Tourism. Join in for an exciting evening while supporting Star Valley Trout Unlimited’s mission to conserve, protect, and restore coldwater fisheries in Star Valley and across Wyoming.
In addition to the film tour, Belknap announced a sweepstakes featuring incredible prizes, including a commissioner license donated by Commissioner Ken Roberts. The second prize includes a $2,500 rifle setup—a Tikka T3x Lite .270 with SWAROVSKI OPTIK EL 12×50 binoculars, generously donated by JD High Country Outfitters in Jackson. The third prize consists of Maven Optics B.6 10×50 binoculars.
Details about the sweepstakes have been posted on the Star Valley Wyoming Trout Unlimited Facebook and Instagram pages, where community members can enter to win.
“These fundraisers are crucial for supporting habitat restoration projects throughout the Salt River,” Belknap emphasized. “The board manages these funds to ensure we can continue our work.”
