The Star Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited (SVTU) is excited to announce a unique opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts: a raffle for a Wyoming Commissioner License, along with a Tikka rifle and Maven binoculars, aimed at raising funds for crucial habitat restoration projects on the Salt River and its tributaries.
Due to frozen federal funding, the SVTU is in urgent need of financial support to construct a major restoration project at the Clarks Barn Public Access Area. Typically, these coveted licenses are auctioned for between $30,000 and $40,000, but SVTU has opted for a sweepstakes format to allow more community members a chance to win this extraordinary prize.
The winner of the Commissioner License can select any deer, elk, or pronghorn tag in Wyoming, offering the chance to experience some of the best hunting in the state. From the majestic Absaroka Mountains to the expansive red desert, winners can create unforgettable memories in Wyoming’s stunning outdoors. A special thanks goes to Commissioner Ken Roberts for his generous donation of the license to SVTU.
In addition to the grand prize, the raffle features exciting runner-up prizes:
2nd Place: A Tikka T3x Lite Veil Wideland .270 rifle with a Swarovski Z3 4-12×50 BT scope, donated by JD High Country Outfitters.
3rd Place: A pair of Maven Optics B.6 10×50 binoculars.
Funds raised from these sweepstakes will play a vital role in habitat restoration along one mile of the Salt River at the Clarks Barn Public Access Area. If the project’s funding needs are met through other grants, SVTU plans to allocate any additional funds to further restoration efforts throughout the watershed. The SVTU board will ensure that all funds are used for projects that significantly benefit the fishery and local anglers.
The entry period will close on May 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM MST. The drawing will take place on June 4, 2025, at 11:59 AM MST. The entry fees are $25 for one entry or $100 for 5 entries.
All proceeds will directly support habitat restoration initiatives in the Salt River. Notably, non-residents are eligible to win, and the tag is transferable but cannot be resold.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to make a difference in local conservation efforts while potentially winning a once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience. Share this news with friends and family, and help support the restoration of the Salt River!
