The event also includes a fundraiser golf tournament on July 8 and Hometown Heroes Week July 7-11.

(0:00) Into this hour’s guest interview segment this morning and our final preview for the wall that (0:05) heals and it’s coming right up next week the wall will be here at j conley and lisa grimsley in (0:12) studio today to give us the final preview guys it’s it’s happening i mean a week from tomorrow (0:18) the escort takes place uh all the final details being worked out lisa they sure are we’ve had a (0:25) tremendous uh outpouring of volunteers and community support and all of our uh committee (0:32) chairs have just done a fabulous job pulling all of this together it is truly tethered our community (0:38) uh throughout the valley so we’re very honored to have this and now we’re just hoping that we (0:44) have really good weather for the the week that the wall is here and but super proud of everybody (0:52) for stepping up i know it’s been a huge undertaking uh for you and everybody that’s that to say the (0:57) least right that’s been been a part of it so well let’s let’s start with the the beginning (1:01) and and go through the event so jay let’s let’s talk about the escort we had you in recently to (1:06) to discuss this uh remind us what’s going to take place on tuesday the 7th of next week (1:11) yes sir so we’re looking at uh registration at the uh burlems and alpine we’re going to do that (1:18) registration from 12 to 2 for anybody that hasn’t signed up online or even just to get them in line (1:23) we’re going to give a small safety briefing that afternoon about 215 kickstands up at 230 and then (1:30) we’re going to roll through the valley and i’ll just give you a couple of times on the way there (1:35) so that people can be lining the street with the flags and all that good stuff so we’ll leave (1:40) alpine at 230 we’ll be in etna at 240 wolfden at 245 star valley ranch at 250 old mill ice cream at (1:52) 255 thane at three o’clock and then we’ll be pulling into afton at 315 under the arches (1:59) approximately 320 and then landing at the middle school at 340 with a flyover going on over the (2:06) arches as we crawl under there it’s just going to be a wonderful day now that’s that’s great (2:10) and so uh along that route i know we’ve had a couple of questions as far as the star valley (2:14) ranch you’re not going actually into the town you’re just driving by on on the muddy string (2:19) correct that’s correct we’ll we’ll go up at the uh uh clark lane there and we’ll turn right on muddy (2:24) string and we’ll slow roll really slow down through there so everybody can parade style wave their (2:29) flags welcome everybody through we’ll take a right on cedar creek drive and then gain the highway at (2:34) old mill and then we’ll come in from thane uh coming from the north now you mentioned uh line (2:39) the street and wave the flag you’re encouraging that across the route the whole way right (2:43) absolutely in the middle of the highway or not in the middle of the highway but the middle of the (2:47) country um in the in the towns i mean we just want flags on fence posts we want everybody that we can (2:52) get out there waving everybody uh saying welcome home to these heroes and you mentioned the the (2:57) flyover at the yard tell us more about that what’s going to happen when it goes through downtown (3:01) afton so we’re understanding that uh there are a group of people that own some t6 uh texans (3:07) they’re trainer jets and we are looking forward to having them do a flyover uh in a three or four (3:13) plane uh orientation coming over the square perfect and so that all takes place uh tuesday (3:19) afternoon at 230 is the alpine departure time right that is correct and if you’d like to be (3:25) in the escort as a as a rider then be there at brolem’s a little before that 12 to 2 o’clock (3:31) is when we’ll be lining everybody up perfect so that all takes place on the 7th with the (3:37) escort and uh and then the lisa the the setup takes place at star valley middle school on on (3:43) that wednesday right the 8th yes we are having a very brief kind of informal welcome ceremony (3:50) on the 7th when everybody gets here and then we will be doing the behind the scenes getting (3:55) everything staked out and ready to start setting up the wall so essentially it is open if you want (4:02) to come and witness or volunteer to help to get this all set up that would be fabulous (4:09) and technically it opens at 9 a.m on thursday the 9th and we have the color guard coming in (4:16) we have our governor gordon coming in and doing our opening remarks at 9 a.m and our vietnam (4:24) veterans or any veteran for that matter is welcome to come and sit in the front row if they choose (4:30) and we obviously welcome the public so this is open 24 hours seven days a week and it’s free to (4:39) the public so please come and take this opportunity for a piece of iconic american history and a (4:47) learning opportunity we do have the mobile education center that’s there so and and the (4:55) vietnam veterans memorial fund staff will be on site they have an abundance of information (5:02) to be able to give and they will be will be giving tours throughout the day as well so (5:10) now my understanding is uh no appointment needed right you just show up anytime and take a tour (5:16) night or day and but if you have a group you you can schedule a time uh is that correct for a tour (5:23) yes if you go on our website you can certainly get on on a tour at any time um otherwise you (5:30) can do a self-guided tour we just want you to come we just want your presence at the wall (5:35) we’re also having our hometown heroes week that’ll start on the 7th to help accommodate (5:43) hopefully the huge influx of visitors to our area it’ll be in the east alley (5:48) um so behind swirl over there and it’ll be from july 7th to the 11th we’ll also have some (5:56) non-profits over there that’ll be able to offer some other services to our veterans and have some (6:04) additional information as far as advanced care and services throughout our valley perfect so (6:11) you got hometown heroes week supporting the wall that heals food live music uh vendors that’s all (6:17) going to be in the east parking area downtown it’s all part of the wall that heals event which (6:23) is coming up next week and the wall will be here july 9th through the 12th open to the public (6:30) lisa grimsley and jay conley in studio this morning a couple other things to mention uh along (6:35) with this there’s going to be on the 8th the the golf tournament fundraiser correct tell us more (6:40) about that lisa well at valley view golf we have um our our golf scramble we’re limiting it to 20 (6:48) teams so you’re welcome to sign up either at town hall or over at the the valley view or give us a (6:54) call at town hall i’d be happy to get you signed up we’re offering a discount for any team with a (7:01) um so it should be a really good time that will be on july 8th excellent so that’s a part of this (7:11) event as well on the 8th of july still looking for any last second volunteers absolutely (7:20) we never turn down volunteers uh anybody willing to participate um and donate their time if it’s (7:28) one hour or one day we will gladly take you we have they’re mostly looking for the overnight (7:35) shifts and some people to help with the parking and but you can show up on site we will put you (7:44) to work or you can we encourage you to sign up ahead of time so we can expect you um our (7:51) volunteers will
