A candidate among six individuals interviewed by Lincoln County School District No. 2 has been selected to fill an open board position.
Tim Teichert of Cokeville was the selected candidate and will be sworn in prior to the May 14, board meeting. Teichert will fill an open board position left vacant after the resignation of Kade Wilkes who came out on top of the 2024 election for Area 1.
Other candidates who applied and interviewed for the position were Todd Dayton, Michael Kelly, Lenn Johnson, Mark Vierig and Brian McClure.
Mr. Teichert will fill that position until the election of 2026.
LCSD No. 2 Chairman, Darnell Simpson, commented on the appointment.
“The Lincoln County School District No. 2 board of trustees are excited to welcome Mr. Tim Teichert to the board,” he said. “We feel confident he will be a positive contribution to the LCSD No. 2 board. Mr. Teichert will fill in as the Area 1 representative for the next 1.5 years at which time Area 1 and four other positions will be open to the election process. We interviewed some very highly qualified individuals last Wednesday night and wanted to thank all of them publicly for their willingness to donate their time to be part of the board.”

It is not the first time Teichert has been on the board after previously serving for a stretch of several years but applied for the position to try and help students be successful.
“I didn’t realize there would be as many people [applying] as there were but it was a chance to help out and I thought I’d try to do that,” he replied. “The first time I was appointed was probably eight year ago, so I’ve been on the board and kind of knew about the procedures and policies and the things that you do as a board member but honestly there were a lot of good candidates.”
Teichert added his thoughts on what he will try and bring to the position.
“The main thing is you’ve got to work with the board; you have no authority on your own,” he answered. “The main thing is to work with the board and ensure the success of the students at LCSD No 2. The other thing that is big to me is that I’d like to see the teachers and our staff receive the compensation that they deserve. It’s tough to afford a home anymore and for a new teacher those are issues that we have to address.”
