Firefighters responded to the Travis Lake Fire on the West Zone of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The fire was reported Monday around 2:30 p.m. and is currently estimated at approximately five to ten acres in size. The Travis Lake fire is located on a ridge in timber in-between the Commissary Ridge and Little Corral Creek trails, east of Travis Lake. The cause of the fire is unknown and there is high spread potential. The public is asked to avoid the area to allow fire crews to work safely and efficiently. Public and firefighter safety are the top priorities during fire suppression efforts.

Over 20 firefighters, including a fire engine, fire module, and 8 smokejumpers are currently on scene and working to suppress the fire. More resources have also been ordered.

Smoke may be visible in the area, please do not report.
