A two-vehicle accident took place just before 9 a.m. on Saturday April 26 at the junction of US 89 and Creamery road just north of Etna.

According to information from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), a Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling south on US 89 while a Nissan Frontier pickup was on Creamery Rd. attempting to turn northbound onto the highway when the Frontier failed to yield to the oncoming Tacoma.

The driver of the Tacoma attempted to swerve and t-boned the Frontier on the A-pillar at the front of the driver’s door at approximately 60-65 miles per hour.

The WHP stated that both occupants of the Nissan were transported for injuries sustained in the crash. One sustained a laceration on his head and was taken to the Star Valley Health facility in Alpine. The other suffered internal injuries and was transported to the Star Valley Health facility in Afton. Both have been reported as stable.

The driver of the Toyota was treated and released. Multiple citations were given to the driver of the Nissan.

Both vehicles blocked the northbound lane and traffic was diverted for approximately one hour.

Along with the WHP, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was on the scene. The Alpine Fire Department was first on the scene which was later joined by the Thayne Fire Department. EMS services from both Alpine and Afton were on the scene as well.
