Lincoln County Road & Bridge has placed a weight limit on a bridge in Alpine following a report of damage to the bridge.

“Please be advised that there is currently a weight limit restriction of three tons on County Road 104, McNeel Power Plant,” stated County Engineer Amy Butler. “This restriction has been put in place due to observed damage to the bridge deck, which necessitates immediate action to ensure public safety.”

According to Butler, the Wyoming Department of Transportation completed an inspection of the bridge on August 4, which revealed significant concerns with the bridge deck, including extensive corrosion, perforations and cracking. A bridge deck replacement is currently scheduled for early October and a detour bridge is planned as part of this essential project to minimize disruption.

“We understand that this restriction may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to this weight limit,” Butler continued. “Your compliance is crucial in ensuring the continued safety of all who use County Rao 104 and helps us prevent further deterioration of the bridge while we work on a permanent solution.”

Butler concluded by expressing gratitude fort he swift action taken regarding the bridge concerns. “The efforts of Road & Bridge Superintendent Matt McCloud and his crew in coordinating these crucial measures are greatly appreciated. Their proactive approach has been instrumental in addressing these safety issues.”

County Road 104 is located south of the Town of Alpine to the west of Highway 89.
