Star Valley’s Cross Valley Community Outreach Team, made up of individuals representing five local evangelical churches, is sponsoring the 4th annual Coat Drive for the Star Valley Community. Morning Star Baptist, Alpine Christian Fellowship, New Hope Fellowship, Emmanuel Bible, and River of Life are collaborating in and effort to provide winter outer clothing for families who need a little extra support staying warm.
The coat drive is a free event held on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Thayne Community Center gym. Coats are offered on a first-come, first serve basis. Community members are welcome to attend, browse, and take items they need.
“We are asking for clean, lightly used snow pants, coats, hats, gloves, and boots,” said Stacy Anschuetz, who is with the River of Life congregation in Star Valley. Items that are torn or excessively worn are unusable for this drive.
Anschuetz and her team are hoping to collect donations before the coat drive so they can ensure that the items are clean and “sorted by size to make the event run as smoothly and organized as possible.”
“This event was started to bless the Star Valley community by providing a tangible need,” said Anschuetz. “Our winters can be long and tough, and we are living in times where meeting even the most basic needs can be a burden to families. We believe this event can help offset some of the cost of providing warm clothing for families throughout our community. Our team believes this is a great way to serve and bless our community by being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Please come on in, have a cookie, and fill a bag with clothing items to help make this winter a little warmer for your family.”
Please contact Alison Rainey at 307-248-8876 or Stacy Anschuetz at 307-880-8882 by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 22 to schedule a donation drop off or ask any questions.
